BSD Survey
BSD Survey Seeks Possible Connection Between Dowsing and Dyslexia

Dyslexia (literally: "difficulty with words") is one of several specific learning differences that include dyspraxia (poor motor co-ordination) and dyscalculia ("difficulty with numbers"). We are using the term "dyslexia" here to encompass a range of learning differences. It tends to run in families, and affects all kinds of people - men and women - regardless of intelligence, race or social class.

The current British Dyslexia Association, definition is: "Dyslexia is best described as a combination of abilities and difficulties that affect the learning process in one or more of reading, spelling and writing. Accompanying weaknesses may be identified in areas of speed of processing, short-term memory, sequencing and organization, auditory and/or visual perception, spoken language and motor skills. It is particularly related to mastering and using written language, which may include alphabetic, numeric and musical notation."  More information about Dyslexia can be found at:

www.bda-dyslexia.org.uk/faq.html

We are exploring the premise that a significantly higher percentage of dowsers have dyslexia than the estimated ten percent in the average population.

Educational training in Britain focuses on rational/analytical skills. Dowsing requires both analytical and intuitive skills. We believe that there is also a connection between dyslexia and enhanced intuitive/creative skills.

We have developed a survey based on the work of the British Dyslexia Association, the Adult Dyslexia Association, and Dr. Wayne London (Harvard) that we would like as many dowsers as possible to take part in. We want to send it to every member in the BSD, to members of every local group and also involve English-speaking dowsers in dowsing organizations around the world.

If you are a dowser, and would be willing to take this survey, please go to:

Thank you very much for taking the time to help us on this. We will be reporting our results towards the end of 2006.
